CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP)—Chris Banchero scored 20 points and Jeff Downs added 17 to lead Seattle Pacific to a 75-65 win over Southern Utah on Tuesday night.
Casey Reed was 7-of-7 from the field to add 14 points for the Falcons (3-0), who shot 77 percent in the second half and 60 percent overall.
Seattle Pacific went into the break with a 32-25 lead. The Falcons forced three quick turnovers to start the second half and led 38-25 with 18:09 to play.
Southern Utah (1-3) trimmed the lead to 42-38 on a layup by Davis Baker with 12:58 remaining, but Downs responded with his fourth of five 3-pointers.
The Falcons’ biggest lead, 59-43, came on Banchero’s layup with 6:45 to play.
Baker led Southern Utah with 25 points, including 22 in the second half. John Clifford added 17 points for the Thunderbirds.
