AKRON, Ohio (AP)—Nate Linhart scored 16 points, including a 3-pointer than kicked off 15 straight points for Akron as the Zips took a big early lead and cruised to an 81-31 win Tuesday night over Urbana.
Linhart’s 3-pointer with 12:24 left in the half made it 19-6. Four minutes later, the Zips were ahead 31-6, and by halftime Akron (3-1) had put the game away with a 49-13 lead.
From there, Akron reserves rotated into the game, with 12 players scoring for the Zips. Chris McKnight added 14 points.
David Brown scored 11 points and T.R. Ellis had 10 for Urbana (0-5), which had 26 turnovers and were just 12 of 47 in shooting.
Akron also outrebounded the Blue Knights 48-34.
