EL PASO, Texas (AP)—Wink Adams scored 20 points and Tre’Von Willis added 17 to lead UNLV to an 80-67 victory over Texas-El Paso on Monday night.
Rene Rougeau scored 11 and Oscar Bellfield added 10 for UNLV (5-0).
Stefon Jackson led UTEP (2-1) with 20 points. Randy Culpepper scored 11 and Gabriel McCulley added 10.
UTEP used a 14-3 run in the first half to take a 13-point, lead but UNLV cut that to 38-35 at the half.
UNLV used an 11-4 run over the first 5:17 of the second half to take a 49-42 lead. UTEP closed to within one point twice, but UNLV quickly widened the lead.
