FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP)—David Carson scored the tying free throws with 25 seconds left in regulation and added 5 more points in overtime, leading IPFW to an 81-77 victory over Eastern Illinois on Saturday.
Carson finished with a team-high 21 points for the Mastodons (1-2). Ben Botts added 15 points and Zach Plackemeier added 12 points, including a 3-pointer that gave IPFW a 79-73 lead with 16 seconds left in overtime. Eastern Illinois (1-2) came within 80-77 before the final free throw by Carson with a second to go.
Romain Martin led Eastern with 28 points and Edin Suljic added 18 points and nine rebounds.
