MARTIN, Tenn. (AP)—Lester Hudson scored 20 of his game-high 29 points in the second half to lead Tennessee-Martin to an 82-65 victory over Elon on Saturday night.
Djero Riedewald added 12 points and a game-high 15 rebounds for the Skyhawks (2-1).
Tennessee-Martin scored the first eight points of the game, holding Elon scoreless for the first 4:29 minutes. The Phoenix closed within two points on Brett James’ jumper with 10:24 left in the contest, but could never draw closer. Tennessee-Martin went on a 17-5 run to close out the half 37-20.
Brett James hit a 3-pointer to close the gap to 51-38 with 14:24 remaining, but the Phoenix couldn’t sustain the rally.
Drew Spradlin scored 14 points for Elon (1-2), including 12 in the second half while James also finished with 14 points. Spradlin and Ola Atoyebi each grabbed seven rebounds.
