BOSTON (AP)—Matt Janning had 27 points, four rebounds and two steals as Northeastern defeated Holy Cross, 61-49, on Saturday.
Nkem Ojougboh added 12 points, three rebounds, three assists and three blocks for the Huskies, while Chaisson Allen had five assists and five rebounds.
Greg McCarthy scored 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting for Holy Cross (2-2), but fouled out with 6:27 to play. Adam May was the only other Crusader in double figures, also scoring 11.
Northeastern (3-1) scored the game’s first 14 points, keyed by five points apiece from Janning and Eugene Spates.
Andrew Keister got the Crusaders on the board at 12:47. He finished with three points and eight rebounds.
The Huskies led 33-25 at the half. Janning’s 3-pointer with 10 minutes to play put Northeastern up 18, 53-35, for its largest lead of the game.
