BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP)—Donavan Bragg nailed a layup and the ensuing free throw with 11 seconds remaining, giving Cal State Bakersfield a 67-65 win over Cal State Northridge Friday.
After leading briefly early in the first half, Bakersfield (1-2 overall) trailed the Matadors (1-2 overall) for the majority of the night, shooting just 35.7 percent from the field.
Free throw shooting saved the Roadrunners late in the game, as they went 14-for-18 from the stripe in the final 10 minutes.
Santwon Latunde cut the Bakersfield deficit to 65-64 with a layup at the 1:35 mark, then a steal by Patrick Carlson with 27 seconds remaining set up the game-winning play for the Roadrunners.
