HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP)—Josh White scored 19 points and hit a late 3-pointer to help lead North Texas to a 76-71 win over Sam Houston State on Thursday night.
Sam Houston State (1-2) led 63-62 with about five minutes to go before White made the shot that put his team up by two.
The Bearkats responded with two free throws to tie the game at 65-65, but could not take the lead the rest of the way.
Dominique Johnson scored 16 points for North Texas (2-1). George Odufuwa added 15 points and pulled down 11 defensive rebounds.
Corey Allmond scored 15, Barkley Falkner 13 and Preston Brown 11 for the Bearkats.
