Penn State shoots past Hartford 89-64

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP)—Stanley Pringle hit six 3-pointers and scored 23 points, and Penn State matched a school record for long-range baskets in a game Thursday night in an 89-64 win over Hartford in the Philly Hoop Group Classic.

Penn State (2-0) shot 15-for-25 from beyond the arc, matching the record it set against Purdue in 2001. the Nittany Lions extended their winning streak to eight games over two seasons.

Jamelle Cornley had 17 points and 10 rebounds for Penn State, and Pringle was 6-for-9 on 3-pointers. Talor Battle shot 3-for-6 from long range and scored 21 points, and Danny Morrissey scored 9 points on 3-for-4 shooting.

Joe Zeglinski led winless Hartford (0-3) with 16 points, and Morgan Sabia added 13.

Two 3-pointers by Morrissey and one by Battle keyed a 14-3 run by Penn State over the final five minutes of the first half and helped the Nittany Lions to a 47-32 lead at the half.
