ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP)—Jason Flagler scored 17 points in South Carolina State’s 98-68 victory over Allen on Tuesday night.
Tied at 12, South Carolina State (2-0) went on an 18-0 run culminating in a 3-pointer by Westley Telfare. A steal and dunk by Brandon Smalls sparked a 10-4 run to give the Bulldogs a 40-16 lead over Division II Allen (1-5) with 2:06 left in the first half. Carrio Bennett’s three-pointer and a pair of free throws by Kensha Johnson put South Carolina State ahead 51-19 at halftime.
Josh Jackson poured in 15 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Bulldogs and Carrio Bennett added 13 points.
Christopher Morgan had 23 points and six rebounds for the Yellow Jackets while Martavious Wimberly added 16 in the loss.
