ELON, N.C. (AP)—Brett James scored 20 points to lead Elon past Southern Virginia 83-55 Tuesday night.
Ola Atoyebi added 13 points, as four players scored in double figures for Elon. Adam Constantine contributed 10, while Drew Spradlin scored 13 off the bench.
The Phoenix (1-1) won the battle of the boards, grabbing 43 rebounds to Southern Virginia’s 23. James led both teams with eight rebounds, followed by seven from Atoyebi.
Southern Virginia (2-2) committed 20 turnovers, including six each from its top two scorers. Bryce Pendleton scored 15 points, while Ade Swann added 13.
