NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Drake Reed sank a pair of free throws with .2 seconds left in the game to seal Austin Peay’s 86-84 comeback win against Belmont on Monday night.
Wes Channels scored a game-high 25 points and Reed chipped in 24 for the Governors (1-1), who shot 57.6 percent in the second half after posting a 46.7 mark in the first. Channels was 5-for-8 from behind the arc.
Jon House and Alex Renfroe scored 18 points each for the Bruins (1-1), who let a 49-37 halftime lead slip away in the second.
Belmont led 53-41 with 18 minutes to play, but a 21-7 run by Austin Peay gave them the lead seven minutes later. The teams would trade leads the rest of the way before Reed was fouled after Channels missed a jumper with nine seconds left.
