Cal State Fullerton beats Hawaii
HONOLULU (AP)—Josh Akognon scored 41 points and Cal State Fullerton beat Hawaii 90-76 at the Verizon Wireless Tip-Off Classic on Sunday.
Akognon, a senior guard, made 12 of his 29 shot attempts from the field, including 7-of-18 from 3-point range. He was also 10-of-11 from the free throw line.
It was the second-highest individual total by a Fullerton player in the program’s history. He had scored 20 by halftime.
Jacques Streeter scored 15 points and had nine assists and Gerard Anderson added 10 for the Titans (1-1).
Roderick Flemings led the Rainbow Warriors (0-2) with 21 points. Kareem Nitoto added 14 points, and Brandon Adams had 13.
There were 11 ties and 12 lead changes in the game. Hawaii turned it over 18 times to nine turnovers for Fullerton.
