HOUSTON (AP)—Aubrey Coleman scored 19 points, 11 of them from the free-throw line, to lead Houston to a 73-64 win over Western Kentucky on Saturday.
Qa’rraan Calhoun finished with 15 points and six rebounds for the Cougars (2-1). Marcus Cousin and Kelvin Lewis added 12 apiece.
Uros Komadinic came off the bench to lead Western Kentucky with 14 points on 4-of-5 shooting from 3-point range. Jeremy Evans added eight points and 11 rebounds.
The Hilltoppers went into the break up 10 points but a 19-8 run by Houston to open the second half brought the Cougars back into the game.
The biggest difference came at the free-throw line, where Houston made 18 of 23 shots. Western Kentucky made all seven of its free throws.
