CHICAGO (AP)—Aaron Hill had 25 points and Alden Smith added 21 points as Division II Rockhurst used outside shooting for an 86-79 upset of Loyola of Chicago on Friday.
Rockhurst hit 14-of-29 3-pointers while Loyola was only 2-of-14 from behind the arc. The Hawks also hit 78 percent from the free-throw line.
Loyola leaned on guard J.R. Blount, who had a career-high 42 points for the Ramblers. Blount was 12-of-22 from the field and 17-of-20 in free throws. Darrin Willias and Andy Polka added 10 points apiece for Loyola.
The lead changed three times and the score was tied six times. Rockhurst earned 28 points off its bench. The Hawks allowed 15 turnovers, allowing the Ramblers to score 21 points.
Starting guard Justin Cerasoli fouled out for Loyola with six points and four rebounds.
