HONOLULU (AP)—Blake Wallace scored 19 points and Dior Lowhorn added 16 to rally San Francisco past Hawaii 75-70 Friday night at the Verizon Wireless Tip-Off Classic.
Wallace had seven rebounds and two blocks for the Dons (1-0). It was the San Francisco coaching debut for former Kansas standout Rex Walters.
Petras Balocka scored 18 points for the Rainbow Warriors (0-1).
San Francisco took the lead for good with 14:02 left in the game on a 3-point play by Kwame Vaughn to make it 44-42. Hawaii pulled within a point at 62-61 on Sasha Parghalava?s 3-pointer with 5:19 left, but the Dons made 9-of-10 free throws in the final two minutes to seal the win.
The Dons shot 51 percent from the floor. Hawaii shot 37 percent in the second half, compared to 58 percent in the first half.
