HANOVER, N.H. (AP)—Eric Flato’s decisive 3-pointer with 1:50 remaining gave Yale a 50-48 victory over Dartmouth on Friday night.
Flato’s open shot from the right side helped Yale (12-15, 6-7 Ivy) match its largest lead of the night at 50-46.
Dartmouth (10-17, 3-10), which lost to Yale by 39 points in their first meeting, pulled within two points on Elgin Fitzgerald’s basket with 41 seconds left. The Big Green had a chance to tie when it inbounded under the Yale basket with 4.7 seconds left, but Alex Barnett’s runner in the paint wouldn’t fall.
Travis Pinick led Yale with 12 points, a game-high 19 rebounds and four steals. Flato added nine points, including a 3-pointer with 7:42 remaining that tied the game for the 12th and last time at 42.
DeVon Mosley led Dartmouth with 10 points and four steals. Fitzgerald had eight points while Barnett grabbed 11 rebounds.
Yale had a 44-26 rebounding advantage and both teams show 37 percent. Dartmouth had the largest lead at 10-5, and led 28-27 at the half.
