PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (AP)—Trant Simpson scored 29 points and had five assists as Alabama A&M beat Prairie View A&M 72-62 on Saturday night.
Simpson was 11 of 19 from the field. Evan Hilton added 15 points for the Bulldogs (11-14, 8-7 SWAC).
Derek Johnson scored 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting to lead Prairie View (7-20, 5-10). Brian Ezeh added 14 points, and Aaron Smith had 12.
The Bulldogs shot 54 percent from the field for the game, compared to 42 percent for the Panthers.
Alabama A&M led 38-30 at the break.
