Hamilton has 20 points; UMKC beats Centenary 75-65 in OT
SHREVEPORT, La. (AP)—Reggie Hamilton’s 20 points included a 3-point shot that tied UMKC with Centenary with 1:35 left in regulation for a 75-65 overtime victory.
The last 95 seconds included two controversial calls for jump balls. The first came when the Kangaroos called a time out after their time outs all were used, the other when some thought Hamilton had fouled Centenary’s Chase Adams.
Centenary (9-19, 3-13 Summit) led 35-34 at halftime and 51-49 with 6:01 remaining, even though they had made only one field goal over the previous eight minutes.
Centenary made only 1 of 5 shots from the floor in overtime, while Missouri-Kansas City (10-19, 5-11) hit 3 of 5 from the floor and all six free throws.
Nick Stallings led Centenary with 22 points, Jerrald Bonham added 14 and Tyrone Hamilton 10. Adams seven assists.
Tim Blackwell had 14 points and Dane Brumagin 10 for the Kangaroos.
