MONROE, La. (AP)—Jeff Parmer and Sanchez Hughley each scored 18 as Florida Atlantic beat the University of Louisiana at Monroe in a 77-72 Sun Belt Conference victory on Wednesday night.
Second half shooting woes sunk Louisiana-Monroe for the second-straight game at home.
Behind 22 first half points by senior Jordan Payne, the Warhawks offense was flying high and took a 45-38 lead into the intermission. But, Louisiana-Monroe (8-15, 2-9) gave up the lead and the game in the second half.
Florida Atlantic (10-14, 5-7) pounded the ball down low, scoring 18 points in the paint in the second half and converting on 65 percent of its shots.
Payne scored 28 points to lead Louisiana-Monroe, while Tony Hooper had 15 and Jonas Brown added 12.
