BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP)—Courtney Lee scored 22 points as Western Kentucky beat Denver 78-64 Saturday night in the Sun Belt Conference.
The Hilltoppers (18-5, 10-1 Sun Belt) opened the second-half with a 15-point run, holding the Pioneers (9-12, 5-5) scoreless for the first 5:32 of the half.
Western Kentucky led by as many as 29 points before reserves finished up as the Hilltoppers settled for a 14-point victory.
Lee scored 12 consecutive points for Western Kentucky during one stretch in the first half. Jeremy Evans finished with 10 points, hitting all five of his field goal attempts for Western Kentucky.
Denver struggled with 23 turnovers, but did make 26 of 31 free throws to keep the game marginally close at the end.
Rob Lewis led the Pioneers with 19 points, while Adam Tanner added 14. Joe Jackson added 12 points and Nate Rohnert finished with 10.
