PORTLAND, Ore. (AP)—Jeremiah Dominguez scored 26 points, including the winning free throws with 5.7 seconds left, to lead Portland State to a 70-68 win over Montana on Thursday.
Deonte Huff added 18 points for the Vikings (12-8, 5-2 Big Sky Conference) and Scott Morrison chipped in 13 points.
Mike Martin and Ceylon Elgin-Taylor led Montana (9-12, 3-5) with 15 points and Andrew Strait added 11 for the Grizzlies.
Portland State took its first lead of the second half when Huff connected on a 3-pointer with 12:08 remaining. The Vikings went on to score the next eight points to take a 58-48.
Montana rallied back behind a barrage of 3-pointers to tie the game at 68 with two minutes left. Elgin-Taylor missed a jumper with 10 seconds left and then fouled Dominguez in the backcourt.
After Dominguez put the Vikings ahead, Montana’s Cameron Rundles missed a shot at the buzzer while under heavy pressure.
Portland State shot 46 percent from the floor and outrebounded Montana 32-24.
The Vikings scored the first 10 points of the game of led 17-2 when Dominguez hit two free throws with 13:47 to play in the first half.
The Montana came to life behind Martin, rattling off a 28-10 run in the next eight minutes to grab a 30-27 lead. The Grizzlies led 37-34 at the break.
