LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP)—Alex McLean had 22 points and 12 rebound to lead Liberty to a 78-59 win over Coastal Carolina on Monday night.
The Flames (10-9, 2-2 Big South) led by as many as 15 midway through the first period but had only a 34-29 lead going into the second.
The Chanticleers (9-8, 2-2) cut the lead to 34-31 in the opening minutes of the second, but Liberty went on a 27-12 run to lead 61-73 with 10:32 to play.
Coastal Carolina was kept to 39.9 percent shooting, while the Flames were 52.9 percent from the field.
Anthony Smith added 15 points for Liberty and B.J. Jenkins had 11.
Everage Richardson led the Chanticleers with 14 points, Phil Wallace added 13 and Logan Johnson had 12.
