KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)—Dane Brumagin scored 21 points to lead Missouri-Kansas City to a 63-60 victory over Southern Utah Saturday night, snapping a four-game losing streak for the Kangaroos.
The seesaw game was tied nine times, with the lead changing hands 10 times.
The last lead change came on Brian Gettinger’s long 3-point shot with just 1:44 left, giving UMKC a 57-56 advantage.
UMKC (6-12, 1-4) hit four consecutive free throws in the last 1:06 to preserve the victory.
Tim Blackwell kept the Kangaroos in the second half, hitting 11 consecutive points in a 2:05 stretch. He finished the game with 20 points. Gettinger added 10.
Geoff Payne had 30 points for the Thunderbirds (4-12, 2-3), with Davis Baker adding 10.
The Kangaroos won the rebounding battle, 35-22, led by Brumagin with a game-high 10.
