Adams has 13 and Shaw 12 as UNLV blows out Nicholls State 64-42
LAS VEGAS (AP)—UNLV’s Wink Adams had 13 points Saturday night and Matt Shaw added 12 as the Rebels held Nicholls State to 11 first half points in an easy 64-42 victory at the Duel in the Desert.
UNLV (10-3) scored the game’s first 10 points and never trailed as the Rebels cruised to their fourth straight victory and seventh in eight games.
UNLV led 19-3 with 12:13 to play in the first half after a 3-pointer from Adams and five straight points from Shaw.
Corey Bailey added 11 points for UNLV, while Troy Cage had a game-high eight rebounds in just nine minutes.
The Rebels play Minnesota Sunday in the final game of the four-team, round robin event. Both teams are 2-0 in the tournament.
It’s the final non-conference game of the season for UNLV, which begins its Mountain West season at Colorado State on Jan. 5.
Anatoly Bose led all scorers with 17 points for Nicholls State, and Adonis Gray added 10.
The Colonels (4-10) shot just 30 percent, including 3-of-23 from behind the 3-point arc.
