NEWARK, N.J. (AP)—Eugene Harvey scored 27 points—including the go-ahead basket in overtime—as Seton Hall rallied for a 112-110 win over James Madison on Saturday.
Brian Laing and Paul Gause each had 21 points for the Pirates (8-2), who overcame a 19-point deficit in the second half. Pierre Curtis had 26 points to lead the Dukes (7-2), while Abdulai Jalloh added 20 points and 10 rebounds and Terrance Carter had 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Trailing 54-35 with 17:04 remaining, Seton Hall started hitting its shots while its relentless full-court trapping defense forced numerous turnovers. Seton Hall eventually cut the lead to 75-70 with 7:58 left, but the Dukes soon regained command with a 9-0 run.
Seton Hall, though, forced overtime with a 13-4 run over the final 1:17 of regulation. After the teams traded baskets early on in overtime, Harvey’s driving layup with 1:36 left gave Seton Hall the lead for good at 108-107.
James Madison had a chance to win on Curtis’ jumper with 2.1 seconds left, but he missed the shot and Gause grabbed the rebound to seal the win.
