McThay leads Lamar to victory over Rice

BEAUMONT, Texas (AP)—Brandon McThay scored 13 points as Lamar beat Rice 66-49 on Saturday.

Lamar (4-6) led 47-26 at halftime. McThay scored the go-ahead basket at 17:57 in the first half.

Lawrence Nwevo scored 11 points and Matthew Barrow 10 for Lamar. Lamar Sanders had 11 rebounds for Lamar.

Patrick Britton led Rice (2-7) with 11 points and Paulius Packevicius had 10. Packevicius also had 11 rebounds.

With the win, Lamar snaps a six-game losing streak to Rice dating to December 2000.
