NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Justin Hare scored 23 points and Matthew Dotson added 16 to lead Belmont to an 82-71 victory over crosstown rival Tennessee State on Monday night.
Shane Dansby had 12 points and Andy Wicke added 11 for host Belmont (7-4).
Tennessee State (3-6) was led by Gerald Robinson Jr. with 19 points, while Bruce Price added 18 and LaDarious Weaver 11.
Belmont trailed 28-20 late in the first half before Wicke sparked a 16-2 run.
After leading 36-33 at halftime, the Bruins went 17-of-27 from the field to pull away. The closest Tennessee State got in the last six minutes was 70-64 with 5:38 left on a 3-pointer by Reiley Ervin.
It was Tennessee State’s fifth loss in the last six games.
