NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP)—Drew Shubik scored 20 points and Brice Brooks added 19 points to lead Sacred Heart to a 68-52 win over Central Connecticut on Thursday.
The win snapped Central’s run of 17 straight Northeast Conference home wins.
Sacred Heart (3-6, 2-0 NEC) shot more than 47 percent from the floor, and was 7-for-15 from 3-point range. The Pioneers broke open a double-digit lead early in the second half.
Brooks finished with eight boards and Shubik grabbed five rebounds and had six assists.
The Blue Devils (2-6, 0-1 NEC) got off to a sloppy start, turning the ball over 13 times in the first half. Central hit just 37 percent of its shots, including a 2-for-17 night on 3-point attempts.
Joe Seymore led Central with 12 points, while Marcus Palmer had eight.
