TEMPE, Ariz. (AP)—James Harden scored 17 of his game-high 24 points in the first half as Arizona State routed Delaware State 77-38 Wednesday night.
Harden, one of three freshman starters for the Sun Devils, also added eight rebounds and shot 10-for-13 from the floor.
Eric Boateng added 10 points for Arizona State (5-2), which has won five of six.
The Sun Devils shot 65.2 percent from the floor (30-for-46) including 7-for-16 from beyond the 3-point line.
Donald Johnson scored nine points to lead Delaware State (3-5), which shot just 20.8 percent from the floor (11-for-53).
The Hornets had as many made free throws as field goals.
Harden scored 10 of his points in the game’s first 9:07 as the Sun Devils opened a 19-1 lead.
The Hornets missed their first 12 shots didn’t get their first field goal until Terrence Parkes scored on a short jumper with 10:33 left in the first half.
Arizona State, which is now 3-0 all-time against Delaware State, led by as many as 22 before settling for a 39-21 halftime advantage.
The Sun Devils have won each of three home games by at least 20 points.
