Dagunduro leads Nebraska to 62-47 win over Arizona State

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP)—Ade Dagunduro scored 15 points and Nebraska held Arizona State to one field goal in a span of nearly 20 minutes, pulling away for a 62-47 victory on Sunday in the Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Series.

Nebraska (5-1) trailed 21-14 after Jerren Shipp’s 3-pointer with 8:31 remaining in the first half. But the Sun Devils (4-2) didn’t score again the rest of the half, and the Cornhuskers scored 16 straight points to take a 30-21 lead.

Aleks Maric and Ryan Anderson added 14 points each for Nebraska, which kept up the defensive pressure. Arizona State managed just one field goal in the first 11 minutes of the second half as the lead swelled to 20 on Dagunduro’s jumper with 13:05 remaining.

Nebraska led 54-28 after Steve Harley’s basket with 9 minutes left, and Arizona State was unable to get back within 20 until the final minute.

Jeff Pendergraph, James Harden and Christian Polk each scored 8 points to lead Arizona State.

The Huskers forced 19 turnovers, 13 of them in the first half. The Sun Devils shot 42 percent (16-of-38) for the game, but missed nine of their first 10 shots in the second half.
