SAN ANTONIO (AP)—Joey Shank scored a game-high 23 points and Texas-San Antonio pulled away in the second half to beat Missouri-Kansas City 73-61 on Thursday night.
The Roadrunners (4-1) held a one point lead at halftime, but shot 63 percent from the field in the second half to secure their best start in five years.
Shank went 6-of-10 from behind the arc and made all five of his free throws. Keith Spencer scored 14 and led Texas-San Antonio with seven rebounds.
Dane Brumagin scored 17 to lead UMKC (3-4), including 5-of-8 shooting from the field. Brent Stephens scored 13 and Reggie Hamilton 10. Stephens and Hamilton led the team in rebounding with seven each.
Texas-San Antonio went on a 10-2 run in the first two minutes after the break and never trailed in the second half.
