6 Mastodons in double figures as IPFW routs Manchester 106-57
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP)—Ben Botts scored 21 points to lead six Mastodons in double figures as IPFW routed Manchester 106-57 Wednesday night.
The Mastodons (1-2) made 17 3-pointers on 30 attempts and outrebounded Manchester 42-26 in their first win. IPFW led from the outset on a three by DeWitt Scott and never trailed, outscoring the Spartans by a 2-1 margin and building a 50-23 halftime lead.
Jakari Johnson scored 13 for IPFW, and Jaraun Burrows had 12 points and nine rebounds. Scott and Chris Perkins also scored 12 and Zach Plackemeier had 11.
Jeff Grabowski led the Spartans (1-3) with 11, including 4 of 4 free throws. Overall, Manchester shot 13-of-15 from the free-throw line while the Mastodons managed 7-of-9.
The Spartans shot 8 of 22 from beyond the arc.
