Duquesne breaks game open in second half, beats Rice 86-59
KATY, Texas (AP)—Kieron Achara scored 19 points and keyed a second-half run that helped Duquesne pull away for an 86-59 victory against Rice on Saturday night.
Duquesne (2-0) led 32-30 at halftime, but Achara scored 10 in a 32-14 spurt over the first 10 minutes of the second half.
Paulius Packevicius scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Rice (0-2). Patrick Britton added 13 points for the Owls, who shot 32 percent from the field and had 28 turnovers.
Duquesne’s Shawn James had 18 points and seven assists, Stephen Wood scored 12 and Damian Sanders chipped in with 10.
