Andrew Brown has big overtime to lead Lafayette to 76-68 victory over Stony Brook
STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP)—Andrew Brown tied the game near the end of regulation then had eight of his 21 points in overtime as Lafayette beat Stony Brook 76-68 on Monday night.
Mitchell Beauford made two free throws with 29 seconds left in regulation to give Stony Brook a 59-57 lead, but Brown hit a jumper with 17 seconds left to send the game into overtime.
The Leopards (1-1) scored the first eight points of the overtime, but Stony Brook got within 67-65 on two free throws by Michael Tyree. Brown then made five free throws as Lafayette closed the game with a 9-3 run.
Bilal Abdullah had 15 points for Leopards, while Matt Betley and Michael Gruner both added 10.
Ricky Lucas topped the Seawolves (0-2) with 18 points and Beauford had 13. Emanuel Neto had eight points and 13 rebounds for Stony Brook.
