BOSTON (AP)—Mike Trimboli scored 21 points and Chris Holm added 12 points and 15 rebounds Saturday to lead top-seeded Vermont to an 81-62 win over No. 8 Hartford in the quarterfinals of the America East conference tournament.
Colin McIntosh came off the bench to score 17 points and grab 10 rebounds and Marqus Blakely added 14 points for Vermont (24-6), who won their 12th straight and 19th of their last 20.
On Sunday, Vermont will face Maryland-Baltimore County. The championship will be played next Saturday at the home court of the highest remaining seed.
Hartford (13-18) led only once Saturday after they scored the game’s first point.
Hartford trailed by as many as 19 in the first half and got no closer than 10 in the second half before Vermont cruised to its third win of the year over Hartford.
Hartford’s senior star Bo Taylor led his team with 23 points and six steals. He fouled out with 1:34 remaining and left the floor to an ovation.
Jaret Von Rosenberg added 13 points and Joe Zeglinski scored 12 for Hartford.
