NEW ORLEANS (AP)—Bo McCalebb scored 24 points and New Orleans shot 94 percent from the free-throw line as the Privateers advanced to the Sun Belt Tournament quarterfinals following a 77-70 win over Arkansas-Little Rock on Wednesday.
Shaun Reynolds scored 22 points and was a perfect 14-of-14 from the free throw line in the second half as No. 7 seed New Orleans (14-16) advanced to play No. 2 seed Arkansas State in a matchup on Sunday.
De’Andre Eggins scored 20 points for Arkansas-Little Rock (13-17) and Terrance Akins had 15 points in the tournament’s first round game. Rashad Jones-Jennings, the nation’s leading rebounder, had 14 points and a game-high 12 boards.
The Privateers were 16-of-17 from the free-throw line though they did not attempt one until the 16:23 mark of the second half.
James Parlow’s 3-pointer gave the Privateers a 50-49 lead with a 3-pointer with 8:44 left, and UNO led the rest of the way.
