BATON ROUGE, La. (AP)—Andrew Hayles had 23 points, including five of nine 3-point attempts, as Alabama State beat Southern 71-58 on Saturday.

Miguel Morton added 11 points for Alabama State (9-15), which led 37-21 at the half. Richard Lott Jr. had 11 rebounds for the Hornets.

The Jaguars (6-20) were led by 18 points from Deforrest Riley-Smith, who hit 7 of his 8 free throws, and 10 from Chris Davis.
