DOVER, Del. (AP)—Jahsha Bluntt scored 23 points to lead Delaware State in a 53-45 win against Coppin State on Saturday.
The All-American candidate had six 3-pointers and shot 7-of-11 from the field for the Hornets (12-10, 9-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference).
Tywain McKee led the Eagles (6-16, 4-6 MEAC) with 19 points.
The Eagles opened up a comfortable lead early in the first half, but the Hornets led at halftime 26-22 and stepped up their defense to take control in the second half.
In the last nine minutes, the Hornets went on an 11-3 run and Bluntt’s 3-pointer with 5:19 remaining gave them the lead for good.
