ST. LOUIS (AP)—Kevin Lisch scored a career-high 28 points, returning from an injury that sidelined him the previous game, to lead Saint Louis to a 76-63 victory over Charlotte on Thursday night.
Tommie Liddell added 16 points for the Billikens (13-7, 3-4 Atlantic 10), who had lost the previous two games. Saint Louis shot 55 percent and led by double figures much of the second half, pulling away from a 32-29 halftime edge.
Lisch was 5-for-8 from 3-point range and 9-for-13 overall, five days after sitting out a loss at Fordham with a calf injury. His previous scoring best was 27, done twice, the last time against Houston on Nov. 25. The five 3-pointers also are a career best.
“I still don’t have that explosion,” Lisch said. “But I can’t complain at all.”
E.J. Drayton had 19 points and nine rebounds for Charlotte (8-10, 2-4), which was held to 39 percent shooting. De’Angelo Alexander added 12 and Leemire Goldwire 10 for the 49ers, who are 1-7 on the road and 1-9 in St. Louis.
Alexander was held well below his 18.5-point average and Goldwire had averaged 24 points the last two games.
Ian Vouyoukas added 14 points and reserve Justin Johnson tied his career best with 12 points for Saint Louis.
