JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP)—East Tennessee overcame poor shooting to beat North Florida 77-58 Saturday.
The Buccaneers forced 24 North Florida turnovers and out-rebounded the Ospreys 47-33. ETSU never trailed, despite shooting just 35 percent to North Florida’s 44 percent.
The Buccaneers were up 37-23 at the intermission and North Florida never got closer than 12 in the second half.
Courtney Pigram led ETSU with 15 points. The team also was helped by Mike Smith, with 13 points, Brad Nuckles, who scored 12 points and made 11 rebounds, Eryk Thomas, who also scored 12 and Andrew Reed, who scored 11.
Leading North Florida was James Grimball with 12 points. Chris Timberlake and Arnold Henry scored 11 each.
