SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP)—John Ofoegbu had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Nicholas Rhodes scored 13 and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Idaho State past Sacramento State 73-58 on Saturday night.
David Schroeder added 14 points and five rebounds for the Bengals (7-8, 2-0 Big Sky), who won their second consecutive road game after losing their first eight. Idaho State finished with a 49-18 rebounding advantage over the Hornets, including a 16-7 rebounding edge on offense.
The Bengals also shot nearly 60 percent from the floor, building up three separate 20-point leads during the second half. The Hornets cut Idaho State’s lead to 10 points on a basket by Loren Leath with 1:17 left but got no closer than 66-56. The Bengals went to the free-throw line on intentional fouls the rest of the game.
After leading by as many as 16 points, the Bengals held on to end the first half in front 33-28.
Leath lead Sacramento State (7-9, 2-2 Big Sky) with 19 points.
