BATON ROUGE, La. (AP)—DaShaun Wood scored 30 points and had seven rebounds as Wright State edged past Mississippi Valley State, 55-54, on Friday in the Hispanic College Funds Classic.
With time winding down and the Raiders down 54-53, Wood drove through the lane to sink a jumper giving Wright State (7-6) the lead with just 8.4 seconds remaining in regulation. MVSU’s final attempt fell short at the buzzer.
Mississippi Valley was paced by guard Stanford Speech, who had 23 points.
The Delta Devils (3-9) played strong defense throughout the contest, forcing 18 turnovers.
