HONOLULU (AP)—Nate Funk scored 22 points and Creighton handed Valparaiso its seventh consecutive loss, 68-43, in the opening round of the Rainbow Classic on Thursday.
Anthony Tolliver added 11 for Creighton (5-3).
The Bluejays trailed early, but took the lead for good on Nick Bahes’ three-pointer with 15:47 left in the first half to make it 7-5.
Valparaiso (3-7) did not reach the free-throw line in the first half and finished with only four shots from the stripe for the game.
The Crusaders did not have a player score in double-figures. They were led by Shawn Huffs with 8 points.
Creighton meets Houston in the semifinal round Friday. Valparaiso falls into the consolation bracket and plays Charlotte.
