ALBANY, N.Y. (AP)—Jason Siggers scored 17 points and Brent Wilson added 16 as Albany snapped a four-game losing streak Saturday with a 62-52 non-conference win over Brown.
Brown (3-7) rallied from a 44-29 deficit in the second half to close within five on two occasions. Damon Huffman, who had 15 points, sank a pair of free throws to get his team within 48-43 with 8:45 remaining.
Albany (3-4) pushed the lead back to double figures when senior guard Jamar Wilson, who had nine points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, followed a miss in the lane and Brent Wilson buried a 3-pointer.
The Great Danes led 20-16 midway through the first, but then ran off 12 unanswered points. Jon Iati ignited that stretch with a 3-point field goal from the right corner. Jamar Wilson converted a drive with one-handed scoop off the glass, before Brent Wilson drilled one of his four 3-pointers.
Albany widened its 37-29 lead early in the final period with a string of seven straight points. Brian Connelly connected with a jump hook. Brent Wilson added a long-range jumper and Jamar Wilson’s 15-footer closed out the run.
Brown was held to 27.5 percent shooting on 14-of-51 attempts. Mark McAndrews led the Bears with 19 points.
