ATHENS, Ohio (AP)—Bubba Walther scored eight of his 14 points in overtime to lead Ohio to an 84-78 win over Marshall Saturday.
After falling behind 78-70 with 43 seconds to play in overtime, Marshall pulled to 80-78 with 11 seconds left on a layup by Chris Ross and 3-pointers by Mark Dorris and Tre Whitted, but Jerome Tillman and Walther each made two free throws to clinch it.
Travis Aikens made two free throws for the Thundering Herd (2-5) with four seconds left in regulation to tie it at 66. Walther started the overtime by converting a three-point play 15 seconds in and the Bobcats (3-1) never trailed.
Aikens led Marshall with 19 points. Darryl Merthie had 16, Markel Humphrey scored 12, Robbie Jackson had 11 and Dorris had 10.
Leon Williams led Ohio with 18 points. Tillman had 17 points, Antonio Chatman had 16 and Sonny Troutman scored 15.
