NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Andrew Preston scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds, leading Belmont to a 76-62 win over Jacksonville on Saturday.
Josh Goodwin and Henry Harris added 12 points each for the Bruins (5-2, 2-0 Atlantic Sun) and Andy Wicke netted 10 points. Justin Hare and Boomer Herndon came off the Belmont bench to score 11 points each.
Lehmon Colbert and Jesse Kimbrough led scoring for Jacksonville (3-5, 0-2) with 15 points each, and Marcus Allen netted 14 points. Allen and Ben Smith grabbed eight rebounds apiece.
Belmont capitalized on 15 Jacksonville turnovers, turning them into 24 points, and sank 12 3-pointers.
The Bruins opened the second half by turning a 6-point halftime lead into a double-digit lead.
Jacksonville kept close to Belmont throughout the second half, but couldn’t get within a 6-point margin.
