MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP)—Giordan Watson had 30 points to lead Central Michigan past Wisconsin-Milwaukee 76-61 Wednesday night.
Central Michigan (3-2) went on a 21-4 run in the final four minutes to take a lead and pull ahead. The Chippewas hit 11 of 12 free throws in the final three minutes to seal the win.
Chris Kellermann hit a 3-pointer to give Central Michigan a 58-57 lead and spark the game-ending run. He finished with 16 points and nine rebounds.
Ryan Thorton and Kevin Massiah scored 13 points apiece for Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2-6), while Avery Smith added 11.
Watson started the second half with a layup that put Central Michigan ahead 28-27 with its first lead since the 15:50 mark of the first half.
The Panthers were able to regain the lead just three times in the second half, when Central Michigan outscored them 50-34.
The Chippewas outscored the Panthers 30-22 in the paint and outshot them 47 percent to 34 percent from the field.
Sefton Barrett had 10 points for Central Michigan.
