FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP)—Angelo Smith scored 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting to lead IUPUI to a 70-60 victory over sister school IPFW on Saturday.
Smith added 10 rebounds as the Jaguars (3-3) outrebounded the Mastodons (2-4) 40-27.
Austin Montgomery finished with 15 points on 5-of-13 shooting for IUPUI.
IUPUI led 29-23 at halftime and built its lead to 11 points with 12:39 remaining in the game. A 3-pointer by Justin Hawkins brought the Mastodons to within three points with 5:06 remaining, but IUPUI went on an 11-4 run over the final five minutes to put the game out of reach.
Jakari Johnson led the Mastodons with 13 points and shot 5-of-12 from the floor. Tyler Best added 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting for IPFW.
The Mastodons were called for 20 fouls and IUPUI shot 18-of-26 from the line.
