North Texas 65, Tulsa 63

DENTON, Texas (AP)—Rich Young hit two free throws with 22 seconds remaining to help North Texas defeat Tulsa 65-63 on Tuesday night.

Tulsa had a chance to tie the game when Brett McDade was fouled on a 3-point try with three seconds left. He made his first shot but missed the next two. Tulsa (2-1) grabbed the rebound, but Roderick Earls missed what would have been the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Michael Sturns came off the bench to score 21 points for North Texas (4-1), which trailed 34-31 at the half and hit only 39 percent of its shots. Calvin Watson had 12 points, including three 3-pointers.

Earls led the Golden Hurricane with 17 points, and Calvin Walls added nine. Tulsa hit almost 45 percent of its field goals.
